Our climate forest sponsorship in the Laascher Forest

Since our foundation, sustainability has been at the centre of our efforts. We are continuously working to improve our sustainability management, focussing on four areas of action – including the responsible use of resources.

In addition to our internal efforts, such as our process optimisation or at our subsidiaries, we therefore also want to make a contribution beyond this: In cooperation with the Scharlaug forestry company, we are converting an existing forest area in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. We are focussing in particular on planting climate-resilient mixed forests with a high proportion of hardwoods that can withstand extreme weather conditions.

In contrast to many other reforestation projects, the climate forest sponsorship is based on a scientific forestry report and comprehensive site analyses, which not only lead to the optimal use of the forest’s potential but also ensure greater transparency. Furthermore, the project is designed to run for at least 20 years. The Scharlaug forestry company offers a comprehensive range of services, including the maintenance of the areas.

The first yews and English oaks were planted in December by Rieke Pennekamp and Sarah Pelke from the sustainability team. A total of 650 trees are to be planted on the approximately 0.4 hectare site – including English oaks, sessile oaks, robinia, sweet chestnuts and elms.
